2014 edition of Gibraltar Chess Congress starts with new appeal

It is time again to get amazed by the 2014 edition Gibraltar Chess Congress.

Previous year the Association of Chess Professionals voted the 2013 as the best Open tournament of the year.  This year also the festivities have begun with similar exhibitions by Sachdev and Agdestein as well as the start of the Amateur section. The Masters of the chess tournament will start from tomorrow that is 29th January, 2014.


The 12th edition of Gibraltar Chess Congress brags a truckload of grandmasters, including 26 over 2600 and 9 over 2700.  This event will also witness the winner of last year's edition, Nikita Vitiugov, who returns to defend his title. He showed a firm competition including Adams, Vachier-Lagrave, Ivanchuk, Eljanov and many others. In addition to that the second place finisher of last year's edition, Short will also present a wonderful game in this tournament.


Furthermore, Gibraltar promises to present a unique site of top female players of the world. Famously the existing World Women's Champion, Hou Yifan, scored a performance well over 2800 and finished second in the tournament two years ago. This year Zhao Xue, Muzychuk, Khotenashvili, Cramling, Cmilyte, Hoang Thanh Trang and many other top women will participate in the game.


Gibraltar Chess Congress open tournament is preferred by all chess players over the world because of the wonderful conditions provided in the tournament. In addition to that one can experience great weather, excellent organization and a high quality playing site.
