World Chess Championship Championship 2021

The the COVID-19 pandemic delayed for 3 years the World Chess Champions Match. In last months of 2021 Norwegian World Champion Magnus Carlsen faced the Russian Challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi in a 14-game match that take place in the Dubai Exhibition Centre in the United Arab Emirates.

The prize fund wasn't as big as WCC but not paltry at all, with the total price of €500,000.

In this particular tournament the players had 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 more minutes for the next 20 moves, then 15 more minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. No draw offers were allowed until after move 40.
