Description
Course Description
Rookie 1000 is a complete chess training program created for beginner tournament players who want to build a stronger understanding of chess and continue improving with confidence.
This program is designed for players who have been playing chess for around two years and are already familiar with the topics covered in the previous training programs. At this stage, knowing how the pieces move is no longer enough. To become a stronger tournament player, you need a solid understanding of fundamental ideas, practical techniques, basic tactics, and essential endgame principles.
This is a yearly chess training program running from September to June, following the structure of a typical chess club year. A chess club usually provides around 30–35 classes per year, often with one class each week. This program follows the same philosophy, giving you a structured path for continuous improvement throughout the year.
As you begin playing tournament and competitive chess, the techniques taught in this program can help you make better decisions, avoid common mistakes, and improve your results over time.
Why Was It Created?
Chess literature can sometimes feel chaotic, can't it?
A large amount of chess content is aimed at players around 1500–1700 Elo. Since many active chess players fall within this range, it makes sense for authors and instructors to create material for them.
But what about players who are still developing their foundations?
Many amateur players who want to improve are pushed toward more advanced books, videos, and techniques before they have fully mastered the fundamentals. As a result, they may learn advanced concepts while still making basic mistakes.
This can lead to a frustrating situation: you might beat a stronger player one day and then lose to a much weaker player on another day.
Has that ever happened to you?
This training program was created specifically to solve that problem.
Our goal is to help you build stable, long-term chess progress, with an initial target of improving by approximately 100 Elo points per year.
Of course, every player is different. Some students may improve much faster and gain 300 or even 400 Elo points after studying and applying the material. That may happen for you as well.
However, the most important goal is not simply to gain rating points quickly. It is to develop a very strong understanding of chess—knowledge that you can continue to use as you progress to higher levels.
How Is It Structured?
The program combines theory, practical examples, and active testing.
You will study theoretical videos that explain the main ideas in a clear and practical way. During the lessons, you will discover the most important conclusions and study illustrative games that demonstrate how these ideas work in real positions.
After the theoretical lessons, you will take tests that allow you to actively practice what you have learned. This helps reinforce the ideas in your mind and makes it easier to remember and apply them during your own games.
The program is designed to turn passive learning into active chess understanding.
