General Information

It all started when I noticed that many children and adults playing chess in schools and clubs often experience random results. They might win against strong players, but the next day, they can lose badly to a weaker opponent.

Chess coaches and YouTubers often teach topics randomly, without any structured approach, leading students to follow fragmented training. As a result, students learn disconnected pieces of knowledge, and eventually, they hit a "wall." They can’t improve because some basic elements are missing from their game.

The reality is that many players quit chess after 2-3 years because they don’t see any progress. As a professional coach, I’ve spent time analyzing these common problems and identifying the main challenges that players face. That’s why I created the Greek Chess Training Program—a structured chess curriculum designed to address these issues.

Each lesson in the program starts with simple examples and gradually progresses to more advanced concepts, helping students build a solid understanding of the core elements of the game. I’ve also prepared video lessons to explain these ideas in more detail, giving students the tools they need to improve their game in an organized and progressive way.

Why This Course Created?

At a 1400 ELO rating, players often make typical mistakes that hold them back from improving. To advance beyond this level, it's crucial to understand openings on a deeper level—not just memorize theory like a parrot. At this stage, you will start facing stronger opponents around the 1400 ELO mark, rather than beginners, which means you need more advanced tactical ideas.

Tactics are essential at this level, as they will help you identify opportunities to capture your opponent’s pieces, while also teaching you how to avoid traps and maintain balance when defending.

Additionally, improving your endgame knowledge is critical. There are key theoretical endgames that every player at this level should know. Gradually building this knowledge will give you the tools to convert advantages into victories and avoid losing positions in the endgame.

• Basic knowledge of chess piece movements: You should be familiar with how the pieces move and basic chess rules.

• Completion of my previous (free) course, “The Easiest Way to Learn Chess”: This will ensure you're equipped with the foundational knowledge needed for this course. (If you haven’t taken it yet, no worries, you can still follow along, but the prior course will be helpful.)
