Wing Chess Openings

Flank openings are characterized by moves other than 1.e4 or 1.d4. The concept revolves around keeping the central pawns in their starting positions, allowing for flexibility in their later deployment. These openings often transition into 1.d4 variations (Closed Openings) during play. Typically, White opts for a flank opening to sidestep certain theoretical lines or gain advantageous positions in specific variations. Black must exercise caution in responding and be ready to incorporate flank openings into their repertoire.
