FIDE World Chess Championship Match 2018 - Tie Breaks
Description
World Chess Championship – Study the Greatest Matches
Introduction
The World Chess Championship brings together the strongest players in the world and gives us a unique opportunity to study chess at the highest level.
In this series of lessons, we will explore selected World Chess Championship matches through video analysis of the games. Rather than simply watching the moves, we will examine the ideas behind them and look at the strategic, tactical, and practical decisions made by the players.
Each game offers something different to learn: opening preparation, positional understanding, calculation, attacking ideas, defensive technique, endgame play, time management, and the ability to make critical decisions under enormous pressure.
Why Was This Series Created?
Studying games played by the world's strongest players is one of the most effective ways to improve our understanding of chess.
A strong player does not simply memorize the moves of a famous game. We try to understand why a move was played, what the player was trying to achieve, and how the position changed as the game developed.
This series was created to make that process easier and more enjoyable by presenting the games through detailed video lessons.
By studying complete games rather than isolated positions, students can see how opening ideas develop into middlegame plans, how tactical opportunities appear, and how strong players convert advantages into victories.
What Will You Learn?
Throughout the series, you will have the opportunity to:
- Study complete games from World Chess Championship matches.
- Understand the strategic ideas behind important moves.
- Recognize tactical opportunities in real games.
- Improve your understanding of opening preparation.
- See how elite players develop and execute their plans.
- Learn how strong players defend difficult positions.
- Study attacking techniques and positional pressure.
- Improve your ability to calculate and evaluate positions.
- Observe how players make decisions under extreme competitive pressure.
- Develop a stronger understanding of practical chess.
Most importantly, you will learn how to study a chess game actively, instead of simply watching the moves.
Who Is This Series For?
This series is designed primarily for registered chess players who want to improve their understanding of the game by studying high-level chess.
It is suitable for intermediate and improving players, but more experienced players can also benefit from examining the ideas and decisions found in World Championship games.
You do not need to memorize opening theory or have advanced theoretical knowledge. The goal is to understand the games and use the ideas you discover in your own chess.
How Can This Series Help You Improve?
The games of World Champions provide us with practical examples that cannot always be learned from a textbook.
By studying these games carefully, you can develop a better sense of when to attack, when to defend, when to simplify, when to create complications, and how to recognize the most important features of a position.
We recommend pausing the video at critical moments and trying to find the next move yourself before continuing the analysis. This turns the lessons into active chess training rather than passive viewing.
